About Therapy With Me

Slow Down, Reflect, and Reconnect With Yourself

Life gets overwhelming.

Sometimes all you need is a place to slow down, reflect, and reconnect.

Much of the work in therapy is leaning into the unknown to reduce your suffering.

My passion is helping you create meaningful change in your life, beginning with feeling heard, understood, and supported. I create a compassionate space where you can face life’s challenges, make sense of your feelings, explore your experiences, gain insight, and build practical tools to balance your life and bring more connection to your relationships.

You know yourself better than anyone. My approach is collaborative and tailored to what you need.

I’m a naturally curious person, and I have a real thirst for getting to know your story.

We Are Hard-Wired for Connection

We live in the most populated era in history, yet the internet and social media have left so many of us feeling isolated and disconnected.

Therapy is a place to rekindle the desire for connection, to ease the fear of reaching out, and to build the skills that create a community of connection around you.

As a telehealth therapist, we meet over Zoom for our 50-minute sessions.

Sometimes we’ll laugh.

Sometimes we’ll cry.

The Work We’ll Do

I help adults, couples, and adolescents work through anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, trauma, and major life changes.

Using a blend of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family Systems, and trauma-informed care, we’ll develop practical tools for managing overwhelming emotions, reducing anxiety, improving your relationships, and building resilience.

Together we’ll explore how past experiences shape your present struggles while building skills to help you feel more grounded and in control.

We’ll work together to find new ways of responding to life’s challenges, focused on your strengths rather than a diagnosis of what’s “wrong” with you.

My goal is to help you feel more confident and connected.

Weave the Tangled Yarn Into a Fuller Life

Over time, my hope is that you learn to calm the chaos inside.

That you unravel the tangled yarn of feelings and experiences, and use that yarn to weave a beautiful tapestry of a full life, beginning with your relationship to yourself.

Therapy is a gift you give yourself.

A space to explore and overcome obstacles, to redefine yourself in your relationships, to be thoughtful about how you show up in the world, and to become your best self.

About Nicole Terrazas, LMFT

My mission is to walk alongside you as you work through life’s challenges, help you discover and build on your strengths, and help you understand yourself more deeply so you can create lasting positive change.

Before becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I studied and practiced Music Therapy and worked for many years at a forensic psychiatric hospital.

After earning my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, I returned to the state hospital, where I became immersed in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

The patients I worked with there carried so much trauma, and using DBT to help them manage their emotions and calm their distress made such a difference in their relationships.

To this day, I use DBT in my own life every day.

I believe the authenticity of the dialectic between acceptance and change is a clear path to reduce suffering and create connection.

My Family Systems training pairs well with DBT, and trauma-informed care is such a compassionate way to view behavior.

In my free time I am an avid water polo player. I find so much peace in nature and enjoy watching wildlife as I traverse the natural terrain of a forest or coastline. In the evenings I enjoy knitting and crocheting and being a mom to two wonderful children.
